Holden stepping things up

American international set to ramp up training schedule in coming months

Dougie Freedman says Stuart Holden is making positive strides in training, as he continues his progress from a knee injury.

The American international is due back in the United States later this month for a final check-up with his specialists.

Holden will then return to the UK for more football-specific training in a bid to be fit in the coming months.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Freedman said: “Stuart’s at a stage where he is now ready to go back to the United States to be signed off for the next stage of his rehab work.

“He’ll spend just over a week over there, continuing his training, then come back to us.

“He’s been training very well with our medical team and things are on track. He’s still got a fair way to go, maybe a couple of months, but he’s certainly making positive strides.

“When he comes back we’ll look at ramping things up with more physical training.”
