Bolton Wanderers XI: Melbourne City preview

A look ahead to the Bolton Wanderers XI's friendly against Australian outfit Melbourne City

Bolton Wanderers XI play their second friendly of their pre-season campaign on Wednesday evening as they welcome Australian outfit Melbourne City FC to the County Ground.

Having seen the weekend’s fixture with Hyde FC called off due to a waterlogged pitch, the club’s youngsters will be eager to build on their draw with Bamber Bridge in their opening pre-season game just over a week ago.

Set to come up against a team in its infancy having only been founded back in 2009, the club was initially known as Melbourne Heart FC until earlier this year when a consortium led by Manchester City completed the takeover of the outfit.

Now boasting figures such as Damien Duff and David Villa amongst their ranks, the A-League side’s clash with Wanderers brings the curtain down on a 17-day camp in Manchester, with the team having been based at Manchester City’s training ground since early July.

John van’t Schip’s side have drawn their two games prior to Wednesday’s trip to Leyland, recording a 2-2 draw with Bury and a 1-1 stalemate with Oldham Athletic during their time in England.

Due to kick off at 7.30pm, the game will take place at the County Ground, Thurston Rd, Leyland, PR25 2LF.

Admission will cost £3 for adults and £1 for concessions on the gate at the ground.

For those unable to make the match, updates will be available on the club’s Twitter account @OfficialBWFC with a full match report on bwfc.co.uk at the final whistle.
