A full review and gallery surrounding Wanderers' community activities during February
As February got underway, Stuart Holden took time out to visit Queensbridge Primary School in Bolton to promote World Book Day.
The midfielder led an assembly in front of 250 pupils aged from four to 11 where he talked about his favourite book from his childhood, Roald Dahl’s The Twits, before reading a chapter aloud to the pupils.
Elsewhere in the community, Wanderers duo Alex Baptiste and Hayden White visited Bolton town centre to help promote the Bolton Wanderers Community Trust’s new table tennis initiative.
Held in the Market Place, Bolton, the tournament will be held on the last Thursday of every month in the town’s historic shopping centre to raise money which will be divided between the Trust itself and Marie Curie Cancer Care who are working in partnership with the Market Place itself.
The duo themselves enjoyed games with shoppers and were even given the opportunity to pit their wits against Commonwealth Games silver medalist Andrew Rushton, alongside signing autographs for those present and posing for photos.
The club once against showed their support for the local community with Wanderers’ match against Watford on February 22 being designated as the Community Trust’s official game for the 2013/14 campaign.
The fixture also saw further fundraising held for Winston’s Wish, with £444.18 being raised through a bucket collection held around the stadium before kick-off.
January loan acquisitions Liam Trotter and Lukas Jutkiewicz were introduced to local youngsters in February as they paid a visit to two of the club's half term football courses at St Catherine's Academy and Ladybridge High School.
The duo found themselves involved in small sided games with the children before answering their questions and signing autographs.
Finally, as the month headed towards its conclusion, a total of eight first team players showed their support for the club's popular Lifeline lottery by attending the scheme’s annual party nights.
Held in the stadium's Premier Suite on both Saturday and Sunday evening, the players were on hand to thank the members for their support of the Lifeline before posing for photographs and signing autographs.
Chris Eagles, Darren Pratley, Adam Bogdan and Jermaine Beckford were present on Saturday evening, with Rob Hall, David Wheater, Andre Moritz and Marc Tierney attending on Sunday.
Over the course of the two nights over 1,400 people - members of the Lifeline lottery and their guests - attended.
The two evenings are included as part of the Lifeline membership as a thanks for their support during the year.
