Dougie Freedman says Wanderers’ final day draw against Birmingham is a reflection on his side’s season as a whole.
After taking a two-goal lead after half time thanks to goals from Chung-Yong Lee and sub Lukas Jutkiewicz, Bolton were pegged back.
Nikola Zigic halved the deficit before Paul Caddis scrambled home a late equalizer. As a result, the Blues avoided relegation on goal difference.
Speaking after the match Freedman said: “It pretty much sums up our season. We felt we defended very well in the first half and managed to take the lead and get two goals up.
“When we were two up, we felt we could have gone on and got a few more.
“We didn’t do that, and once again it shows that when you don’t take your chances in this division it gives the opposition confidence.
“In the last 15 minutes they were throwing everything at us and we just couldn’t hold on.
“Credit and congratulations to Birmingham, but it really does underline where we are right now.
“I’m proud to say that we never took this game lightly, and I think that showed in our performance.
“There wasn’t a lot riding on the game from our point, but we were very professional and we made sure we did our utmost to win the game.
“Overall, the spirit of our group has been fantastic over what has been a difficult season.
“We can now head into the summer and free up some money. There are a few contracts up and that gives us the opportunity to do a bit of reshuffling.
“We already have a number of plans in place for next season. Naturally, players will come and go, and we have to be on our toes should any new options come up over the summer.”
