Season in photos: David Wheater

A selection of images detailing David Wheater's 2013/14 campaign

Despite finding himself sidelined through injury for much of the first half of the season, once installed in the Bolton backline in February, there was no stopping David Wheater.

Having seen his opportunities limited throughout the 2012/13 campaign due to a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained the season earlier, the defender featured in Wanderers’ first seven fixtures before being forced onto the treatment table.

Almost five months later, the Redcar-born centre half made a return to the starting line-up against Burnley and would miss just one game against Barnsley in the final months of the campaign as the Whites picked up eight victories and suffered just three defeats.

The 27-year-old even got his name on the scoresheet during the latter stages of the season, notching Wanderers’ only goal in a 1-0 win over Blackpool in March – his first strike in a Bolton shirt since he recorded a brace against Blackburn Rovers in March 2012.
