International watch: Neil Danns makes Guyana debut

Midfielder helps create both goals in friendly win over Grenada

Neil Danns made his international debut for Guyana earlier this week as they triumphed 2-0 over Grenada in an international friendly, with the 32-year-old helping create both of the goals.

Intercepting a pass in the middle of the park, the midfielder picked out Vurlon Mills down the right-hand side who in turn crossed for Pernell Schultz to net the Golden Jaguar’s opening goal in the 18th minute.

Involved again 14 minutes later, Danns played in Emery Welshman who saw his initial strike saved, only for Shultz to pop up in the right place at the right time and poke home the rebound.

Elsewhere, Tim Ream came on as an 89th minute for ten-man USA as they drew 1-1 against Switzerland, having seen Jozy Altidore sent off earlier in the match.

Meanwhile, Georg Iliev completed 90 minutes for Bulgaria as they lost 3-1 to Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium in their opening UEFA 2017 Under 21 European Championship qualifier.
