Manager believes one victory could be the turning points in his side's season
Neil Lennon says one victory could see his side’s season turn around, after Bolton were held to a 2-2 by Fulham at Macron Stadium.
A brace from Zach Clough saw Bolton recover from a goal down to lead in the second half, but late on Ross McCormack found the net with a dipping 25-yard free kick.
And speaking after the match the manager said he would take plenty of positives from a gutsy display from his side.
“It was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde performance,” the manager said in his post-match press conference. “I thought we started the game very well, but we keep giving away silly goals and that was once again what cost us.
“There was no danger around and we shoot ourselves in the foot and never really covered from that for the remainder of the first half. We lost our way a little bit.
“In the second half we were a lot better and the players gave us everything. We were just disappointed that we weren’t able to get that win.
“There aren’t many players in the league who can hit a free kick like Ross McCormack has done, but overall our attacking play was good and we had plenty of good performances across the pitch.
“I thought that Mark Davies was back to his best, Liam Feeney did well and of course Zach Clough’s presence was there for all to see. There were certainly plenty of positives. We can’t be overcritical of the team.
“At half time we just tried to gee them up, because they weren’t doing themselves justice. I think we were feeling a bit sorry for ourselves, but looked a different team in the second half.
“We are now scoring goals and looking a threat going forward, but we have to cut out the errors at the back.
“The two goals will do Zach the world of good. I don’t think he was as bright as he was on Tuesday, but we expected that anyway given his lack of football. He was feeling his hamstrings tighten at half time, but we wanted to give him as long as we could.
“We have a tough game on Boxing Day at Rotherham and one which we must look to win.”
