Internationals: Trio called up for Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup qualifiers

Adam Bogdan, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Neil Danns link up with nations ahead of June international break

Adam Bogdan, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Neil Danns have all been called up by their respective nations ahead of the upcoming June international break.

Aiming to win his 20th international cap, Bogdan will hope to be involved when Hungary host  Lithuania in an international friendly in Debrecen on Friday 5 June.

Currently sitting third in UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying Group F, they then travel to Helsinki to take on fourth-placed Finland in their latest qualifier on Saturday 13 June, knowing a positive result will put them in a strong position to claim at least a Play-Off place ahead of next year’s finals in France.

Having scored on his international return back in March, Gudjohnsen will be hoping to make it two in two for Iceland when they host UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying Group A leaders Czech Republic on Friday 12 June, knowing a victory will see them leapfrog their opponents into first place.

Meanwhile, Danns could make his World Cup debut for Guyana as the Golden Jaguars face Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in a two-legged CONCACAF Second Round qualifier ahead of the 2018 finals in Russia.

Competing in the away leg first on Wednesday 10 June, Guyana will then host their North American counterparts four days later on Saturday 14 June at the Providence Stadium as they look to progress to the third round of qualification.

Elsewhere, Conor Wilkinson has been called up by Republic of Ireland Under-21s ahead of their international friendly against England Under-21s on Friday 5 June, after playing 45 minutes of their 2-1 defeat against the England ‘C’ team earlier this month.

Georg Iliev has also been called up on Bulgaria Under-21 duty as they face Cyprus on Tuesday 9 June and Austria on Friday 12 June, while Luke Woodland has been named in the Philippines training camp squad.
