Mark Davies benefiting from pre-season - Neil Lennon

Manager delighted with stand-in skipper’s recent form

Neil Lennon says Mark Davies is benefiting from a hitch-free pre-season schedule, after impressing in recent outings as stand-in captain.

Davies has featured in every minute of Bolton’s last seven outings, wearing the armband in place of the injured Darren Pratley.

And speaking ahead of Bolton’s trip to Huddersfield this weekend, Lennon was hopeful of the midfielder continuing his positive run of form.

“Mark is a very good player and he is showing that right now. He’s had a good pre-season and the backroom and medical team are managing him really well right now.

“There are times when he doesn’t train during the week because we don’t want to take any risks with him.

“His performances have been so consistent. The volume of work he is getting through in the games is brilliant.

“He's a bit of a rascal and I think he is enjoying the responsibility of being captain.

“He and Neil Danns have formed a nice little partnership in there. The two of them dovetail well together and the amount of work they’ve put in during the last few games has been incredible.

“At times during the Sheffield Wednesday game, Dannzy was like a man possessed.”
