Young Whites clinch late victory at the Lions' training ground
Bolton Wanderers Under-23s clinched a late victory over Millwall at the Lions’ training ground on Monday afternoon.
Alex Samizadeh had the young Whites’ best chance in a goalless first half, shooting narrowly wide at the near post.
After the break, Jack Earing fired Bolton ahead following a fine individual effort as he rifled home from 18 yards.
Having seen Millwall level the scores with ten minutes left on the clock, the Trotters were unfortunate not to re-take the lead soon after as they had an effort cleared off the line.
However, Wanderers did manage to clinch the win late on from their next attack as Sam Lavelle headed home Cole Lonsdale’s corner at the near post.
Speaking after the final whistle, David Lee told bwfc.co.uk; “We are pleased to get the result with the lads putting in a hard-working, passionate display and showing a desire to win.
“We kept a disciplined shape to our formation throughout and denied Millwall any opportunities to play through us.
“They resorted to playing long balls to their 6ft 5 striker, but our two centre-backs did very well up against him to keep him quiet.
“We had two good chances to score in the first half before Jack went on a great solo run before scoring with an unstoppable shot.
“Having seen them equalise, it was then a quality corner from Cole to set up Sam’s winner at the near post. It was a deserved result.”
