Neil Lennon - Performance everything I asked for

Manager pleased with his side's all-round performance during late comeback at Molineux

Neil Lennon says he got everything he asked for from his players, after Bolton fought back from two goals down to draw at Wolves.

Late goals from Wellington Silva and Stephen Dobbie eventually saw Bolton earn a share of the spoils on what had threatened to be yet another frustrating day on the road for so long.

And speaking after the game the manager admitted that midway through the second period he was left scratching his head and wondering how his side were two goals down.

“I thought that we were outstanding throughout the game,” Lennon said in his post-match press conference. “Wolves got a huge slice of luck with the opening goal when the ball deflects through and eventually lands at the feet of Joe Mason.

“After that, our reaction was very good, though admittedly we did lack a bit of quality in the final third.

“In the second half it was all us and I couldn’t believe it when we went two goals down. It was completely against the run of play and aside from picking the ball out of the net, I don’t remember Ben Amos having anything to do.

“Our football was attractive and the players were brave tonight. They took on the mantle and responsibility to come from behind to earn a draw.

“I want more of that and we’re certainly going to need more of that between now and the end of the season. We’re in a fight down at the bottom of the league, but the players showed they are willing to dig in and scrap all the way.

“We have a big game against Rotherham at the weekend now. We need to carry this performance forward and if we can take something from that game we’ve got a real chance.

“We’ve been very inconsistent this season. If we can remedy that and find a consistent level of performances to the standard we have shown we believe we’ll be fine.

“We lost some players during the transfer window, but fortunately we’ve been able to keep the main core of our squad intact. We know what we’re working with between now and the end of the season and we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got.”
