Macron Stadium assisting with Operation Christmas Child appeal

Confirmation of club's involvement with annual present appeal for underprivileged children

Macron Stadium, the home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Bolton Whites Hotel, is providing the space and warm environment for local volunteers to assist with the international Operation Christmas Child Appeal.

Over a four-week period during November, 8,000 shoeboxes are being filled with children’s gifts, which have been donated by communities from across the region, and warehoused at Macron Stadium before being dispatched worldwide to underprivileged children.

Local Volunteer Shirley Sharples said: “For the past ten years we have had a warehouse in Horwich for sorting, checking and sending shoeboxes that have been collected from the Greater Manchester area.

“We are delighted and so grateful that Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Bolton Whites have allowed us to use Macron Stadium which offers us plenty of space and convenience in all aspects of our needs.

“The Operation Christmas Child Appeal brings happiness to families less fortunate than ours all over the world.”

Phil Mason, Head of the Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, added: “We are delighted to be part of this really important appeal and to offer our facilities to support the valuable work undertaken by the volunteers.

“The appeal reaches out to communities from all over the world and brings happiness at this important time of the year.”
