Tom Thorpe delighted to reunite with Phil Parkinson

Versatile defender played under the gaffer when on loan at Bradford City last year

Tom Thorpe is thrilled to link up with manager Phil Parkinson again having played under him at Bradford City last season.

The versatile defender was Wanderers’ fifth signing on an eventful deadline day as he made the move to Macron Stadium on a season-long loan from Rotherham United.

Having also played alongside Jamie Proctor during his time with the Bantams, Thorpe shared his delight at being able to play under the gaffer again.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he told bwfc.co.uk after completing the move. “It’s a big club with a lot of history behind it so I’m ecstatic to have made the move.

“I had a brief spell with the gaffer at Bradford and learned a lot of positives things from him, so I was more than happy to come here and link up with him again.

“They’re a good bunch of lads here and have welcomed me in, but knowing one or two always helps.”

Thorpe continued: “I hope I can make my debut [against Southend United]. It’ll be a difficult game but I’ve trained hard and hopefully I can push for a place in the team.

“The start has been brilliant. The club have done well to be top of the table. Hopefully we can push on from there now and I can help out wherever I can.

“I’ve grown up playing centre-half but recently I have been playing holding midfield. “

“I’m happy to play either as long as I am in the side. I’m going to work as hard as I can and I am happy to do a job for the team wherever I can be useful.”
