Preview: Five talking points ahead of Bolton Wanderers v Stoke City

As Wanderers prepare to welcome Stoke City to Macron Stadium to Stockport County for their final pre-season game, bwfc.co.uk highlights five talking points ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

1. Final Friendly

The start of the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship season is just over a week away. As the Sky Camera’s prepare to broadcast Bolton vs. Leeds on Sunday 6th August, Phil Parkinson’s side will play their final non-competitive game eight days before the opening day of the season against Premier League side Stoke City.

Last facing off against the Potters in 2012, Bolton shared the spoils with their counterparts in a 2-2 draw with Mark Davies and Kevin Davies on the scoresheet.

2. Back at Macron Stadium

After what seems like a lifetime, Bolton Wanderers will finally return to Macron Stadium thirteen weeks after they earned promotion against Peterborough United on the final day of the season.

Goals from Jem Karacan, David Wheater and Adam Le Fondre put the icing on top of the proverbial cake and sparked mass celebrations come the full-time whistle.

And like London busses, we will host Leeds United the following weekend, tickets for which can still be purchased HERE.

3. White Kit

This weekend’s game against Stoke will be the player’s don the new 2017-18 Sky Bet Championship home kit. This campaign marks the twenty-year anniversary of when Bolton Wanderers move from Burnden Park to what was then known as the Reebok Stadium.

As a special commemoration of that season, Phil Parkinson’s side will be sporting a brand new kit, that is a modern interpretation on the home and away kits worn by Wanderers that season.

The new kits are available to purchase in store or ONLINE!

4. Home Debuts

We’ve seen the likes of Stephen Darby, Mark Little, Will Buckley and Adam Armstrong all feature in a Wanderers shirt throughout pre-season, however, this is the first time they will represent Bolton at Macron Stadium.

Fan favourite Sammy Ameobi will also be making his return to BL6 after re-joining the club following his release from Newcastle United this summer.
