Supporters Offered The Chance To Name New Bar And Grill At Bolton Whites

Bolton Whites Hotel is currently undergoing a major transformation of its drinking and dining facilities with a refurbished bar and restaurant set to open in July – and Bolton Wanderers supporters and customers are being given the opportunity to participate in choosing a new name for them.

The refurbishment will see the current Pure Bar and Brasserie make way for a sports themed bar and a grill style restaurant.

Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Bolton Whites Hotel are asking supporters and customers to send in some suggestions which will help us to name the new bar and grill.

The suggestions can name either the bar and grill collectively or individually.

A suggestion by BWFC Chairman Ken Anderson would be to name the new bar and restaurant “Goslin’s Bar and Lounge” in homage to former player Harry Goslin, who inspired his Bolton Wanderers team mates to sign up to the Territorial Army at the outbreak of World War Two.  Harry was later killed in action and is revered today in the Wartime Wanderers book which is currently in discussions with various film/TV producers to be made into a film/drama/documentary.

We encourage as many suggestions as possible and they can be emailed to refurb@boltonwhiteshotel.co.uk. A panel will then make a decision on Monday 12th June from all the submissions we receive.

The refurbished bar and dining areas have  been redesigned with specialist outfitters CMJ, who are working closely with Heathcote & Co, Patricia Anderson and Suzanne Speak . The design will have a modern and contemporary look and will have copper and stone finishes to ensure a warm and homely feel.

New LCD televisions will be in place to ensure top sporting action and up to the minute world news coverage will be available in a modern and relaxing environment.

As well as stocking new beers and hand-pulled ales, the redefined areas will also integrate a coffee bar, lounge seating areas with a variety of meals and snacks available.

The grill restaurant will be the centrepiece of the new look area and will serve great Dukesmoor steaks and aim to provide the best burger in Bolton, as well as selling its signature mouth-watering and succulent Tomahawk steaks for two.

The Dukesmoor beef used in the dishes will be locally sourced and is reared to a unique specification, dry aged for 14 days in sealed chillers, deboned and aged for a further 14 days to deliver consistent flavour, succulence and tenderness.

The grill will also serve simple and traditional all-time favourites in addition to natural and fresh dishes suitable for vegans and vegetarians as well as gluten-free options.

Meals will be completed by a theatrical dessert which will not only be entertaining to watch but also tantalisingly delicious. An experience to savour and not to be missed!

Paul Heathcote MBE of Heathcote & Co said: “We are thrilled and excited to be undertaking this project which will bring Bolton Whites’ drinking and dining areas right up to date.

“With the locally sourced and ethically reared Dukesmoor beef we aim to serve the best burgers and steaks in Bolton.

“The Tomahawk steak has to be seen to be believed and will be a very popular choice and our menu will cater for a wide range of tastes.

“I’m looking for the name of the grill to be reflective of what we are offering within the restaurant and also one that is appealing to our standing as a 365-day a year operation that appeals to a broad range of clientele.

“The suggestion for the grill doesn't necessarily have to have a football theme or a Bolton one. We are an independent international hotel with visitors from all walks of life so keep your ideas open.”

Work has already commenced and will be completed in two phases to ensure minimum disruption to residents and visitors with a launch event planned in July.
