International watch: Jake Turner starts as England Under-18s win

Young Lions beat hosts Qatar on Friday

Jake Turner started for England Under-18s as they beat Qatar at the Aspire Zone on Friday.

An unused substitute for the Young Lions' victory over Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, the young goalkeeper was given his chance between the sticks as England ran out 2-1 winners over the hosts.

George Hirst put England ahead after 15 minutes only for them to be pegged back before the interval.

Sam Shashoua would score what proved to be the winner for the Young Lions, though they did have to survive a late scare as Qatar missed a last-minute penalty.

England will face Qatar again on Monday 27 March for their final outing before returning home.

Elsewhere, Will Jaaskelainen was an unused substitute for Finland Under-19s' meetings with the Netherlands and Greece.

The Finns' are next in action against Ukraine on Tuesday 28 March for their final match of the March international break.
