U18s: Bolton 1-2 Sheffield United

Youngsters suffer slender defeat to their Blades counterparts at Lostock

Wanderers' youngsters slipped to a narrow defeat against their Sheffield United counterparts at Lostock on Saturday.

The Whites started strongly in the clash, looking to get the ball out wide and created a number of good chances.

One particular instance saw Jack Earing beat three defenders before passing to Ryan White whose shot was saved.

Dennis Politic then saw a free-kick hit the crossbar as the first period ended goalless.

Following the restart however, the Blades came out more with gusto and were rewarded with the opening goal of the game.

Bolton responded well however, and following a great run from Politic who was brought down just outside the area, the youngster hit an unstoppable shot from the resulting set-piece into the top corner of the net to level the scores.

With the clock running down, the game seemed to be heading for a draw but in the dying embers, the visitors snatched a winner to condemn the Trotters to defeat on home soil.
