TOP TEN WINS: Wanderers 1-0 Aston Villa

After Wanderers secured their place in the Sky Bet Championship for another season, bwfc.co.uk are counting down the Whites' ten best victories from the 2017/18 campaign.

Bolton's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa finishes fifth as we enter the second half of our review countdown!

Following away draws at Reading and Sheffield Wednesday, the Trotters returned to Macron Stadium as they hosted Aston Villa in front of the Sky cameras in the evening kick-off before the March international break.

Facing off in snowy conditions, Adam Le Fondre's first half tap-in proved to be the difference as Wanderers put in one of their performances of the season to claim a deserved three points against the promotion-chasing Villans.

HOW BWFC.CO.UK SAW IT...

"Adam Le Fondre's first half goal was enough for Wanderers to beat promotion chasing Aston Villa in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday evening.

The striker turned home Darren Pratley's flick-on from close range in the 20th minute, with that goal proving decisive as the Whites controlled the clash from thereon in and picked up three wholly deserved points."

HOW THE MANAGER SAW IT...

"We performed well in difficult conditions against a very good Aston Villa side. The spotlight was right on us in terms of the TV cameras and kicking off later than the other teams.

I thought we handled it very well from one to eleven. It is very difficult to be critical of any player tonight.

I think we are relishing the challenge. I said in the press leading up to the game that we have got a group of players who have strong character and are enjoying the pressure.ย

That is what you need as players and you want in the team. They all stood up and were counted tonight and it was a real manโ€™s performance."
