TOP TEN WINS: Wanderers 1-0 Bristol City

After Wanderers secured their place in the Sky Bet Championship for another season, bwfc.co.uk are counting down the Whites' ten best victories from the 2017/18 campaign.

Missing out on top spot is Bolton's hard-fought victory over play-off hopefuls Bristol City back in February.

Having sold leading goalscorer Gary Madine to promotion-chasing Gary Madine on transfer deadline day, all eyes were on at Macron Stadium when the Trotters hosted the Robins in front of the Sky cameras just two days later.

Facing off under the lights on Friday night as Wanderers took to the field for the first time in two weeks, there was a sense of intrigue in the air as to how Phil Parkinson's new-look side would line up without Madine.

The Whites had brought fan-favourite Zach Clough back to the club on loan alongside Jon Flanagan and Tyler Walker on deadline day, but it was just the latter who started against Bristol City, joining Sammy Ameobi in attack.

Clough made his return as a substitute on the hour-mark, but it was Ameobi who grabbed the headlines as his superb individual effort ten minutes earned Bolton all three points to move out of the relegation zone and putting aside any doubts about selling Madine.

HOW BWFC.CO.UK SAW IT...

"Wanderers picked up a priceless victory over promotion-chasing Bristol City in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday evening.

The deadlock was broken with 19 minutes of the clash remaining as Sammy Ameobi picked up the ball in his own half and powered downfield before beating Luke Steele to send the Bolton faithful into raptures.

And come full time, his effort was enough to ensure that the three points remained with the Whites."

HOW THE MANAGER SAW IT...

"We’re very pleased. It was a big night for us and I thought the lads performed superbly.

We changed the shape of the team this week and we only had about 20 minutes to work on it in difficult weather conditions yesterday.

The way the lads stuck to the task however and were disciplined, communicated and concentrated well, that was the highlight for me.

We restricted a very good side to very little and it was a real team effort from everybody."
