TOP TEN WINS: Wanderers 3-1 Barnsley

After Wanderers secured their place in the Sky Bet Championship for another season, bwfc.co.uk are counting down the Whites' ten best victories from the 2017/18 campaign.

As we reach the halfway point in our countdown, Bolton's 3-1 victory over Barnsley is next up in sixth place!

Having suffered an emphatic defeat to Premier League-bound Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last outing, the Trotters found themselves bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table heading into this clash with the Tykes.

Despite being seven points behind 17th-placed Barnsley at kick-off, Wanderers bounced back in fine fashion in front of their home fans thanks to a Gary Madine brace and Mark Little's first goal for the club.

With the victory seeing the Whites' climb out of the second tier's bottom three, it proved to be one of Bolton's most important results of the season with Phil Parkinson's men boasting a two-point advantage of relegated Barnsley come the end of the season.

HOW BWFC.CO.UK SAW IT...

"Wanderers picked up all three points with a hard-earned victory over Barnsley at Macron Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The deadlock was broken with 20 minutes on the clock as Gary Madine bundled home Mark Little's cross, but the visitors were back level two minutes later through Tom Bradshaw's penalty kick.

Bolton's advantage was restored before the break however, with Madine slotting home from a spot-kick of his own, before assist provider Little got on the scoresheet with a superb individual effort in the 70th minute with the scoreline remaining as such come full time."

HOW THE MANAGER SAW IT...

"It was crucial. We spoke about how we needed to pull Barnsley back towards us and we don’t want to make it a relegation battle between four teams.

We’ve got to get other teams involved but I feel the belief is really with the lads at the moment and you feel it with the supporters with the way they responded at 3-1.

To give the lads a lift is so important because there was a lot of tired legs out there and the fans lifted the players at 3-1, which saw us home."
