Wanderers To Remember Legend Hill

Minute's applause before kick-off to honour club's England man

15 October 2021

Wanderers will pay tribute to club great Freddie Hill at Saturday’s match against Wigan Athletic.

Hill – who recently passed away at the age of 81 – played 412 games for Bolton between 1958 and 1969.

An exciting inside forward and crowd favourite at Burnden Park, Hill scored 79 times in a Wanderers’ shirt and was also capped twice by England.

Wanderers will display imagery of Hill on the big screen inside the University of Bolton Stadium and ask fans to take part in a minute’s applause before kick-off on Saturday.

Hill’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, 19 October at 10.30am at Bolton Parish Church.
