It’s ‘Her Game Too’ at Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers were pleased to celebrate the ‘Her Game Too’ campaign at the weekend, as the Whites enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Her Game Too is a female fan-led movement that aims to foster an ethos of respect and inclusivity for women across the game and Wanderers became official partners of the campaign earlier this year.

Wanderers’ Her Game Too Ambassador Emily Parker, along with club Advocates Angela Abbott, Abbie Morton, Rachel Ryder, Emily Cronshaw and Kelly Thorpe were present in the Fan Zone ahead of kick off, chatting to supporters about the work of the movement and taking photos with a special branded selfie frame.

The team then spoke about the aims of the campaign at Bolton Wanderers in the Community’s ‘Family, Faith, Football’ event in the Media North Suite before heading into the Stadium where Her Game Too branding featured across pitch side LEDS, the big screen and the match day programme.

A playlist of female music artists was played as the Wanderers’ squad warmed up in Her Game Too t-shirts, before walking out ahead of kick-off, flanked by an all-female group of mascots.

At half time, over 100 Bolton Ladies and Girls players took part in a lap of honour around the pitch, silverware in hand, to rapturous applause from the 19,000 strong crowd.

Finally, post-game, the Lionesses’ World Cup qualifying match was broadcast in the Fan Zone.

The Her Game Too fixture also coincided with the installation of new machines dispensing free, eco-friendly period products in all female and accessible concourse toilets.

Phil Mason, Chief Executive Officer of Bolton Wanderers in the Community said: “We were delighted to place our female fans front and centre at Saturday’s fixture and celebrate the incredible contributions women are making to the world of football.

“The Her Game Too team received such a positive response from all areas of our fan base and we hope the day’s events helped to elevate the great ethos and message of equality that the campaign aims to deliver.”
