Almeida Santos first impressed at Thurrock, which, in 2014, earned him a move to League One side Peterborough United. This was followed by a transfer to Barnet, where he made 94 appearances and scored 6 goals.

On 3 August 2020, Almeida Santos signed for Bolton Wanderers on a two-year deal. He debuted against Bradford in the first round of the EFL Cup and played a key role in the club’s promotion to League One. He was named in League Two’s Team of the Year and was voted as Bolton’s Player of the Year for the 2020-21 season.

Almeida Santos was subsequently appointed new captain for the 2021-22 season and has signed a new three-year deal over the summer, keeping him at the club until 2025.
