Dougie Freedman speaks ahead of the Boxing Day visit of Sheffield Wednesday
Ahead of Wanderers’ Boxing Day fixture against Sheffield Wednesday, Dougie Freeman has called for a return to the level of performance that previously saw his side claim three home points against Charlton.
Bolton suffered just their second defeat under Freedman’s reign at Peterborough last weekend, being edged out by the odd goal in nine at London Road.
And speaking ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s visit, Freedman reiterated his desire to get back on track in front of a bumper home crowd.
“I thought we were very deserving of the three points in our last home game against Charlton,” he explained. “It was a tough game and we expect another against Sheffield Wednesday.
“If we play as we know we are capable of and we show our quality we will always get a result.
"We’re on a good run of form at the Reebok and we now have back-to-back games and we want to pick up points and climb the league table.
"Peterborough was disappointing and as difficult as it was, we know we didn't reach the standards we have set ourselves.
"I felt encouraged by our never-say-die attitude. We kept going and almost secured a draw, but we were undone by conceding the early goals. We were always chasing the game.
"We have worked well in training this week and we will be looking to get back on track. There will be a good Boxing Day crowd so we want to make sure we reward the fans for their support.”
