"You try to figure out what he is thinking and which way he is going to go and I managed to choose the right way," says the Hungarian
Adam Bogdan was delighted to play his part in Wanderers’ draw at the Amex on Saturday, but insists the side must do better to avoid giving away so many chances. The Hungarian 'keeper produced a string of saves to keep the Brighton attack at bay, including an outstanding double stop to deny Ashley Barnes from the penalty spot, until Bruno Saltor finally broke the deadlock on 53 minutes.
David Ngog would steal a point for the Trotters with the final kick of the game to the joy of Bogdan, and the 25-year-old was impressed with the Whites’ character to get back into the game.
He said: “I just believed that we were going to nick it. As long as you are in the game then that can happen in football. It happened before, people scoring in the last minute, even if we have hardly any chances and they have plenty.
“Brighton were brilliant, they created plenty of chances and we got a bit lucky earlier in the game - but I think we have to look inside us and correct our mistakes and try to be more stable and not let the opposition create so many opportunities.
“But overall I think it was a great comeback, to seal a point was a positive ending to the game. Again they created too many chances against us and I think we have to do better to avoid these chances, but we were able to end the game on a positive note and we now move forward.”
The ‘keeper was thrilled to save his first penalty of the season, and believes Wanderers’ late goal will give them the momentum for when they travel to Ewood Park on Wednesday evening.
“I am pleased with my performance personally, and it was actually a good time to save a penalty after the last six,” Bogdan added. “It is definitely a relief to save one – I couldn’t think why I couldn’t save one this season it was unbelievable.
“Sometimes you get them, and the odds were with me. You try to figure out what he is thinking and which way he is going to go and I managed to choose the right way. That kept us in the game and probably gave us a little bit of a lift.
“But then we conceded as they kept coming forward and they kept creating chances. Now the game has finished we can take the positives from it, especially with a last-minute goal and now we have to go to Blackburn and perform and hopefully we can take some points from that game.”
