Eagles Receives The Fans' Vote

Chris Eagles looks ahead to the Millwall game after being named the club's 188BET Player of the Month for September

Chris Eagles has shown his gratitude towards the Bolton supporters after he was once again named the club’s 188BET Player of the Month for September - the second time in succession he has collected the accolade.

The midfield playmaker received the majority of the votes after fans were invited to cast their votes online via the club’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Eagles scored twice in September – against Hull City and Birmingham City – and also provided assists for Kevin Davies’ and Matt Mills’ goals against Watford.

The 26-year-old also had a helping hand in Marcos Alonso’s header at Sheffield Wednesday and the captain’s first goal against Leeds United in midweek.

Eagles said: “I’d like to thank everyone that has voted. Obviously the team’s start to the season has been up and down, but on a personal level I’m proud of the way I’ve been playing. Although I have already had a full season here, I really do feel at home and settled at Bolton.

“I always aim to score and set goals up. I was quite disappointed with my effort that hit the post against Leeds on Tuesday because I want to be involved as much as possible.

“We wanted to win the other night and we felt that we should have done, given the way that we played in the first half.

“If we can stop leaking soft goals then we have every chance. We have conceded four penalties and, whether they were or weren’t, they have been given. If we defend well as a team and a whole unit we will give ourselves a great opportunity, and that’s including myself.

“If you look at every game this season, except from at Burnley, we have deserved to take points from them all. For whatever reason we haven’t and we need to get ourselves into a position where we aren’t having to score two and three goals to win a match.

“Millwall will be tough this weekend and we need to aim to play like we did at Sheffield Wednesday away. If we keep it tight at the back, with our attacking players, we will always create chances. We are one of the best teams in the league at making opportunities.

“I’ve played there a couple of times and it’s a difficult place to go to. I remember playing there once and I was getting booed throughout the game, but at the end of the match I came off and their fans clapped me. It’s one of those things in football.”
