Zat Knight says Hillsborough win is the perfect platform on which to build heading into back-to-back home games
Zat Knight believes Wanderers’ win at Hillsborough last weekend is the perfect way to kick-start their climb up the league table ahead of a busy period of Championship fixtures.
Wanderers face a busy week as they welcome Crystal Palace to the Reebok on Saturday, quickly followed by another home tie against Leeds United on the Tuesday before endingthe week in London to face Millwall on October 6.
The central defender now hopes they can maintain their winning momentum as he targets seven points from the next three games.
“It is a big week,” Knight said. “These are the times when you do want a game on Tuesday when you are on a bit of a high.
“We can have a good week in training ahead of the Crystal Palace game which can hopefully be the start of a good run of results.
“Hopefully now we’ve got that first away win we can start our season now and go from strength to strength.
“We have got two massive home games and we need to get maximum points. We just need to keep climbing - we have got a tough week and after that is the international week, so if we can get seven points out of the three games it will be a fantastic week.”
Knight expressed his relief after Bolton claimed their first away win of the campaign against Sheffield Wednesday thanks to a Marcos Alonso header and a superb solo-effort from Mark Davies.
“It was a massive win,” Knight added. “It was obviously disappointing against Birmingham and we should have got something away from home, but it was nice to go to Hillsborough and get the win.
“It has been a tough season so far, but we have created a lot of chances.
“We have been saying that a team will get punished soon, the more we make chances and put them away the easier it makes it on the team.
“I think with just the one goal lead it puts our backs against the wall, so I think we need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal, but I’m sure that will come in time.”
