Striker reflects on making his first two senior appearances for Wanderers
Having been recently recalled from his loan spell with Shrewsbury Town, Tom Eaves admitted that it has been a week to remember for all the right reasons.
After making his full senior Bolton debut against Leicester City in midweek, the young striker came off the bench to replace Craig Davies for last 17 minutes of the 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
Despite a whirlwind couple of days for the 21-year-old however, he confessed that he simply wants to grab whatever opportunities he can get to get on the pitch.
“It’s been a bit of a hectic week but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” he said following the final whistle at the weekend. “It’s been fantastic and I’m just overwhelmed and over the moon that we got the win.
“The manager told me what to do and I just did my best and utmost to do it – hopefully it was enough and we got the three points, but I’m just happy to be on the pitch and playing.”
After taking the lead through Chris Eagles, Wanderers were pegged back through Kieron Dyer before Marvin Sordell secured three valuable points from the penalty spot in a hard-earned victory.
The win lifted the Whites to sixth in the table, and the centre-forward explained that it was undoubtedly a team effort that secured a crucial result.
“I thought we worked hard as a team, we kept on top of them and it was a fantastic performance all round,” he said.
“It’s great to come here at the Reebok and get the fans behind you, and they were fantastic again today. It really gets all the lads going.
“The home form has been phenomenal from the lads and hopefully we can carry that on for the next two games and get wins so we can finish strongly. I’m sure after performances like this we can definitely do something.”
