Dougie Freedman's reaction, as Bolton made it seven home wins on the spin
Dougie Freedman says Bolton were outstanding value for their seventh home win on the spin, after comfortably seeing off Wolves at the Reebok.
First-half goals from David Ngog and Marcos Alonso proved decisive, as Bolton wrapped up the Easter period with back-to-back wins.
Speaking in his post-match press conference Freedman said: “I’m very happy with the performance in the opening 35 minutes. We dominated possession and made sure that there was some real speed in our passing. I thought we were outstanding.
“We created four or five fantastic opportunities, two of which we converted. We could have gone in at half time with more goals. If we had scored five goals in the first half it wouldn’t have been an injustice.
“The second half was a little more difficult, because Wolves changed their shape. They are fighting for their future, so threw everything at us.
“It was more about our determination to keep the ball out of the net. The one thing is that if we can’t go on and score that third or fourth goal, it’s that we don’t go and concede.
“We showed great discipline and a good shape to see out the game.
“Since my time at the club we’re getting better at managing games, whether that’s looking to build on a lead or to defend an advantage. Credit to the players, they have been prepared to take that on board.
“Overall, I was really pleased with the level of our football today. I thought that our passing and movement was first class.
“The changes I made today helped us. I thought that Medo had an excellent game, sitting in the midfield picking up the second balls.
“It has been a very good week for us, to pick up two wins in the space of five days.
“I’d also like to thank the fans. We had another big crowd and another good atmosphere.”
