French striker says team spirit behind inspired run of home form
David Ngog expressed his delight at getting his name on the score sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Wolves, but the striker firmly believes that the result was down to the unity within the team.
The Frenchman opened the scoring inside three minutes with his seventh goal of the campaign, before Marcos Alonso made sure of the points.
The win was the Whites’ seventh consecutive victory on home soil, and Ngog revealed that the run is simply down to the camaraderie amongst he and his teammates.
“It is a team game,” he said following the final whistle. “Everybody knows their part and supports each other, and when the team supports each other it is good to know.
“It was good to score. We had a lot of chances, and I try to do my best all the time, but it is a good feeling to score, especially when we win after.”
The 24-year-old also paid tribute to his strike partner Marvin Sordell, who received a standing ovation from the Wanderers’ faithful when he was replaced by Craig Davies shortly after the hour mark.
“I think Marvin is a good player and a good finisher as well, so we can combine upfront,” he explained. “We have been doing for the past couple of games and hopefully we can keep doing the same.”
With five games of the season left, Ngog has every faith that the spirit within the side at present will prove to be the catalyst as the Whites aim to push themselves into contention for the play-offs.
“Each game we progress and understand each other better, so there is a good team spirit which will help us to win games.”
