Former midfielder speaks exclusively about Nat Lofthouse and his hopes for the season
Bolton’s former midfielder maestro Stelios Giannakopoulous was in attendance for Wanderers’ recent game against QPR at the Reebok Stadium.
Currently studying for his UEFA Pro License after serving as the president of the Greek PFA, Stelios took time to speak to the club’s official website about the recent erection of the Nat Lofthouse and his hopes for Bolton for the forthcoming season...
I was recently lucky enough to be here to see the unveiling of the Nat Lofthouse statue.
For me, the statue is a great tribute. It’s good that he can be remembered by fans and even small kids that have never met such a great player. I was very honoured and privileged to have met him and he will always be the biggest legend of the club.
I’m currently back in the country visiting old friends and it’s always nice to come back and see the club I love play again. It’s a good feeling to come back to the Reebok Stadium and to see the side playing at home. This club is a great memory for me and that will never change.
Always I had a very good relationship with the fans. I love them and they love me back. I have very strong feeling for everyone associated with the club.
The big issue now is to hope the club can get back to the Premier League. I was lucky enough to play in this club for five years and it means a lot to me. I want this club to go high and get back in the Premier League as soon as possible.
I know it has not been easy since the club got relegated but I hope they will do what they need to do. The fans deserve to see Premier League football.
