Jay Spearing signs a four-year contract with the club
Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Jay Spearing from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
The tenacious midfielder spent last season on loan at the club and Dougie Freedman has now swooped to make the deal permanent.
He has signed a four-year contract with the club.
Spearing, 24, progressed through the youth ranks at Liverpool where notable achievements included back-to-back FA Youth Cup successes, appearing in a 4-0 triumph over Real Madrid in a Champions League game at Anfield and an FA Cup final start against Chelsea at Wembley.
Spearing has also had a brief loan spell with Leicester City in the 2009/10 season, helping the club to the Championship play-off semi-finals.
Dougie Freedman said: “Jay wanted to come here and wanted to play for the Bolton Wanderers jersey. He brings qualities to the football club both on and off the field.
“He turned down a few other clubs to come here and he knows and likes the style of our management team.
“We really have to thank the board and owners on this one. The support we’ve had has been great in helping us to acquire such a fantastic young player.”
Jay will wear shirt number six.
