On loan defender Craig Dawson spoke to the official website following the 1-1 draw away at Derby County on Tuesday night
Dawson put in another pleasing 90 minute performance for Dougie Freedman’s side alongside Zat Knight in the heart of the Wanderers’ backline and also made a telling contribution in the opening goal of the game just before the half time whistle.
“It was an own goal by their defender l but it was a great ball into the box by Jay Spearing,” said the highly rated centre half.
“There were a few runners in the penalty area and it distracted the Derby defender and fortunately he put the ball into his own net.”
After taking the lead at Pride Park through Richard Keogh’s own goal, Bolton continued to work hard and showed both great character and commitment.
However in the final stages of the match Derby levelled the score line courtesy of Jamie Ward’s close range header but there were plenty of positives for Bolton to take away from the game.
Dawson continued by praising the travelling Wanderers supporters and believes wins will soon start to come on a regular basis.
“We have to take the positives out of the game, we played well on the night and we were unfortunate to concede late on,” admitted the England U21 international.
“We were all confident leading up to the match and the game plan was working well but we couldn’t score the second goal which was needed.
“We are playing well and we are just not getting the results that we want at the moment but it will come. We will carry on working hard on the training pitch and take that into the next game.
“We have to maintain our performances and soon enough the results will come and hopefully another win is around the corner against Hull City.
“We have a great team spirit and at times we have had to dig deep and like I have said the results will come and we have to keep working at it.
“The supporters were magnificent once again, it is great to see them turn out in force and they help the team.”
Dawson’s attention will now turn to this weekend’s game at the Reebok Stadium against Steve Bruce’s high flying Hull City.
Aware it will be a tough game against the Yorkshire outfit, Dawson is ready to pull on the Bolton jersey once again and targets all three points against the promotion chasing Tigers.
“I am enjoying my football at Bolton, it is great to play regular first team football and long may it continue.
“It will be a tough game against Hull City, they are playing well at the moment and they recorded a good win over Blackburn Rovers last time out. We will do our homework ahead of this weekend and look to win the game.”
