Work complete on Lofthouse statue

Clay statue to be transported to a foundry where it will be cast in bronze

Sculptor Sean Hedges-Quinn has completed his work on the Nat Lofthouse statue, which will now be transported to a foundry in London to be cast in bronze.

Work on the statue began 18 months ago, with Quinn’s clay sculpting of Nat now finished. Foundation work at the north-west corner of the Reebok Stadium, where the statue will be located, is also now underway.

Club chaplain Phil Mason said: “We’re delighted with Sean’s work and feel he has really captured an amazing likeness of Nat.

“The size reflects the magnitude of Nat and the detail is incredible – the muscle tones in his arms and legs reflect the strength of Nat.

“I am sure that the people of Bolton will be very pleased with the work and we cannot wait now to get to the unveiling at the end of August.”
