The low-down on this weekend's opponents Birmingham City
Birmingham City head into this weekend’s televised at clash St Andrew’s buoyed by their midweek thumping of Millwall.
Lee Clark’s side recorded their most convincing win of the current campaign, notching four goals without reply on their own patch.
After a year out of the game following knee surgery it was full-back David Murphy who stole the headlines with a first-half brace. Tom Adeyemi and Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard added to the tally after the interval.
Since losing their opening two home league games this term (both 0-1 defeats against Watford and Brighton) the Blues have been pretty reliable in front of their own fans.
Aside from their recent Millwall win they also disposed of holders Swansea in the League Cup (3-1) and breezed past Sheffield Wednesday (4-1).
Attacking midfielder Lingard netted a remarkable four goals on what was his debut against the Owls and has already bagged a brace against Bolton’s second string this season.
So far this season Clark’s side have tended to field just the one out-and-out striker, with the imposing Matt Green regularly handed the task of leading the line.
Club captain and ex-Wanderer Paul Robinson has featured as a makeshift central defender this term.
Last time out (W4-0 v Millwall): Randolph, Murphy (Bartley 79), Spector, Burn, Robinson, Lingard (Gray 90), Burke, Adeyemi, Reilly, Shinnie, Green (Zigic 70) Unused subs: Doyle, Lee, Caddis, Ferguson
