Baptiste ready for Brighton challenge

Defender Alex Baptiste looks ahead to Saturday’s game at Brighton

The former Blackpool and Mansfield defender scored his second goal in three matches on Tuesday night, grabbing the opener against Derby County in the 2-2 draw at the Reebok Stadium.

Baptiste, who has featured for Bolton in every game so far this season, acknowledges it will be a difficult test on Saturday for the Whites against a team renowned for their passing ability.

Speaking ahead of the match the 27-year-old said: “Brighton are a very good passing side and it will be a tough game at the weekend.

“It is our job to build on from Tuesday night’s performance against Derby County and I thought we were unlucky not to come away with all three points.

“We can take the positives from our last performance and take those into this weekend’s game. We all know it will be a tough game against Brighton but hopefully we will put in a good performance and get the right result.”

This weekend it will be the longest trip of the season for Wanderers so far but Baptiste hopes the players can reward the Bolton fans with three points against the Seagulls.

“The fans were fantastic on Tuesday and really got behind the team,” admitted the defender. “They were all willing the team on to get our first three points and hopefully we can do the fans justice and get three points at Brighton.”
