A look ahead at Monday's local derby clash at the Reebok Stadium
Wanderers’ Under 21s welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Reebok Stadium on Monday evening for what promises to be a hotly contested derby clash.
With Jamie Fullarton’s side having fallen to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United last week, the club’s young guns will no doubt be looking to go all out in a bid to secure their first win of the season.
They are set to come up against a Rovers’ side who have only managed a solitary victory themselves in their first five games of the campaign, losing three and drawing the other.
Blackburn come into the clash on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City, but have struggled in front of goal with just four to their name so far.
Striker Devarn Green has notched two of those goals and looks set for big things at Ewood Park following his transfer from Burton Albion in the summer after a successful trial with Rovers.
At the tender age of just 17, the centre-forward has already developed a reputation for his lightening quick speed and announced his arrival at the club with the winning goal on his debut against Reading last month.
Wanderers however will be hoping that home advantage will be key in this game, with the team currently unbeaten on their own patch so far this season with two draws to their name.
Under 21 coach Fullarton looks set to name a similar side to that which faced the Red Devils last Monday, but will be without the services of Tom Eaves following the striker’s loan move to Rotherham United.
The last time the two sides met was back in November of last year, with Rovers holding the Whites to a stalemate at the County Ground.
The game itself kicks off at 7pm and entry is free for season ticket holders, £3 for adults and £1 for concessions
