Defender joins Wanderers on short term loan deal
Bolton Wanderers have completed the loan signing of full-back Alan Hutton from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old Scotland international has joined on a deal that will run until March 29.
An experienced defender who has spent much of his career plying his trade in the Premier League, Hutton started out in his native Scotland with Rangers where he progressed through the academy before breaking into the first team at Ibrox.
A seasoned international with 38 caps for his country, Hutton joined Aston Villa in the summer of 2011 but has enjoyed loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Mallorca during the past two seasons.
He will wear the number three shirt for the duration of his stay with the club.
Speaking following the completion of the deal, Dougie Freedman revealed his delight at the arrival of a player who he believes can be instrumental for the Whites over the coming weeks.
“He’s been a Premier League player for a long time and he’s an international player, so we’re really excited to work with him," said the manager.
“We’ve had a few injuries in the past week, so Alan is a fantastic player who can come in and help us ensure that we carry on from last Saturday.
“He’s an experienced player who has played in the Premier League for pretty much his whole career, so he will come here, enjoy himself and show everybody just how good a player he really is."
