Eddie Davies Educational Trust moves into Pre-Opening Phase for proposed Free School
Bolton Wanderers are delighted to announce that the EDET (Eddie Davies Educational Trust) has formally progressed with the Department of Education into the Pre-Opening Phase for the proposed Free School.
The School is now gearing up rapidly, subject to passing successfully through various further reviews, to open in September 2014.
It is expected that the School will be located at Middlebrook in Bolton, close to the Reebok Stadium and the Bolton Arena.
The School’s educational model is built upon the wider benefits of active sports participation, and utilising the impressive nearby sports facilities at both the Bolton Wanderers Academy in Lostock and the Bolton Arena will offer many advantages to its students.
Discussions to finalise details on a preferred site are already underway with the Education Funding Agency.
Phil Gartside, Chairman of the EDET Governors, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Bolton’s male and female students in the 16 to 19 year age range to continue their academic and vocational studies.
“The School will initially specialise in sport and business-related studies with internationally recognised education qualifications.
“Our students will also have access to a wide range of unrivalled sports facilities and coaching support within our campus.”
More information will be released very shortly, including how to register your interest in being part of this hugely exciting project – whether as a student or as staff.
