David Lee offers his thoughts following his side's 3-2 derby victory over their Blackburn counterparts at the weekend
David Lee was pleased with the performance of his youngsters as they recorded an impressive 3-2 win away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The team’s second consecutive league victory, a brace from Christopher Cvetko and a strike from Guillermo Torres secured all three points for the young guns against their Lancashire rivals.
Speaking following the final whistle, Lee admitted that the determination and grit shown by his players is something which is testament to their hard work during the course of the campaign so far.
"More than the actual result, the performance of individuals was pleasing - they worked hard,” he said.
“We had a couple of kicks in the teeth when we went ahead and they came back - that happened twice, but you look for character.
“I thought they looked strong, fit and enthusiastic. We played some fantastic phases of football, created chances and scored goals so overall really pleased with them."
He added: "The players are there and what we have is competition. Those who are on the bench are capable of getting into the team and when they came on they created chances and we ended up with a goal.
"That mentality of wanting to do well when you come on is part of the process of learning and when you get the opportunity you have to take them.
"To be fair the players who started the game worked really hard, but got a little bit fatigued towards the end so we put fresh players on.
“They took the impetus, created chances then scored the goal so it was a good day all round."
