Defender pleased with his efforts in the Whites' opening game of their pre-season campaign
Having made his Bolton bow in Wanderers’ game against Brondby on Thursday evening, Dean Moxey hopes that his showing will bode him well for the remainder of the club’s pre-season campaign and beyond.
After confirmation of his three-year deal with the club last week, the defender played the opening 45 minutes of the clash - a game which saw Craig Davies’ penalty kick cancel out former Bolton striker Johan Elmander’s early goal to ensure the meeting ended all square.
Speaking exclusively to bwfc.co.uk following the final whistle at Brondby Stadion, the 28-year-old admitted that while he was ultimately pleased with his efforts for his new club, he is confident that the best is yet to come.
“It was a good test and a nice little run out to start with,” he said. “It was quite tasty, but that’s football and you’ve just got to get on with it.
“With myself not playing too much towards the back end of last season, it was nice to get back out there and get 45 minutes under my belt.”
He continued: “It was our first game, but it was a good run out for all the boys and we need to push on from here - you could tell from the start that Brondby were sharp and up for it, especially with their fans behind them.
“Everybody knows that the new season is going to be tough, but that’s why we’re playing teams like Brondby – they’re playing Liverpool next week and they’re ready for their season to start.
“It took us a while to get into the first half, but I think we dealt with it quite well – from my point of view, hopefully I’ll stay injury free and get some more minutes under my belt in the next few games.”
