Manager speaks following Bolton's final game of their tour of Scandinavia, a 3-2 reverse against Mjallby
Dougie Freedman says that his side’s trip to Scandinavia has proved a valuable experience to his side in the countdown to the new campaign.
Wanderers ended their three-game tour with a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Swedish top flight side Mjallby on Wednesday evening.
Prior to that Bolton had completed two games against Danish opposition, winning 1-0 at FC Vestsjaelland and drawing 1-1 with Brondby.
“It’s a difficult one to try and comment on really,” the manager told bwfc.co.uk following the conclusion of the Mjallby game. “We started really well and in the opening 20 minutes we found ourselves two goals up.
“We were looking really good going forward, then Mjallby obviously got back into the game.
“That may have been because we’re now at the end of our training camp and our players were a little fatigued.
“Our recovery runs in the latter periods of the first half were a little slow and that resulted in them scoring three quick goals.
“In the second half we were a lot better and created four or five really good chances and should have probably gone on to win the game.
“I’m very happy that the 100 or so fans we had here were able to see a number of our younger players in action.
“Overall, it has been a very productive training camp. We’ve come up against opposition who are further down the line than us in terms of preparation.”
Bolton are next in action against Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose on Friday 18 July, kick off 7.45pm.
