Dougie Freedman on Rochdale win and potential transfers

Manager's post-match quotes following 2-0 victory at Rochdale

Dougie Freedman spoke to the media following Bolton’s 2-0 victory over Rochdale on Tuesday evening.

Below is what the Bolton manager had to say.

On the victory over Rochdale…

It was a great workout for us. We’ve got to give credit to Keith Hill and his Rochdale team, because the game was played in a fantastic spirit.

We’ve picked these pre-season fixtures out specially. It was a competitive game and both teams went about it in the right way.

I thought our approach play, particularly in the first half, was very good.

I feel we can improve a little bit defensively in terms of screening the middle, but all in all it was a fantastic workout.

I’m very pleased with where we are at this stage.

On his current group of players…

I’ve got a good, honest group of players. We’re all now heading in the right direction and we’re working hard for each other. You can see that in the team. We all want to work for the best of the football club.

On potential transfers…

It doesn’t take too much to work out exactly what we’re looking for. It’s up to me to add to that group and improve it.

We’re always looking for strikers, as most managers are. They do come at a premium, but I think we’ve set things up very nicely.

We’re never resting. We’re always on the lookout and I feel very confident we have things to work out.
