Bogdan - Finish on a high

Goalkeeper pleased with performance and clean sheet in 100th appearance for Wanderers

After keeping a clean sheet in his 100th appearance for the club against Blackpool on Tuesday, Adam Bogdan is eager for the Whites to build on that performance between now and the end of the season.

David Wheater’s first half header secured all three points for the Whites in what was a strong defensive display from Dougie Freedman’s side, as they limited the Tangerines to just a solitary shot on target.

Wanderers have now kept four clean sheets since Bogdan’s return to the side last month, and while the win was not as emphatic as recent victories against Blackburn Rovers or Leeds United, the Hungarian was pleased with Bolton’s overall display.

“I think we deserved to win,” said Bogdan. “We were very solid and had a lot of possession of the ball. We managed to score in the first half and did well to keep hold of the lead.

“Blackpool did try to attack us and push us back but in both halves we defended well and stood up to the challenge. We kept a clean sheet too, which is very pleasing, and in the end we probably could have put them to the sword a little more.”

Now full of confidence heading into another local derby this weekend against high-flying Wigan Athletic, Bogdan knows the Whites will need to be at their best if they are to secure back-to-back home victories.

Having narrowly lost against the Latics back in December, the 26-year-old is eager for Wanderers to exact their revenge as they look to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the season.

“Winning against Blackpool was extra-important as it gives us that little bit more confidence heading into the weekend’s game.

“We’ve been saying for a few weeks now that we must finish on a high - we want to finish as high as possible.

“We suffered a set-back last week but this win gives us some good memories and a platform to push on and move forward against Wigan.

“We expect a hard game because they are flying and look like a solid team with a lot of Premier League players. We’re looking forward to it - it should be a really good test.”
