Former skipper says he has been impressed by Neil Lennon so far
Long-serving Wanderers fan-favourite Kevin Davies has backed Neil Lennon to build on his impressive start in the Macron Stadium hotseat ahead of next weekend’s local derby against Blackpool.
The former Whites captain lined up against the new Bolton manager on a number of occasions during the Northern Irishman’s own playing days with Leicester City, and has been impressed by what he has seen from Lennon during his brief tenure at BL6 so far.
“Neil has been superb since he came in,” Davies told bwfc.co.uk. “He’s lifted them out of the relegation zone and four wins from six games is a great start.
“The transformation from the game against Wigan to the last one I came to see, which I think was against Derby, was huge.
“Wigan played well in the first half but Bolton got the goals and the confidence went from there. I can see them only going one way now and that’s upwards.”
The forward continued: “I remember playing against Neil and he’s a competitor. He’s very passionate and has taken that into his management style. I think it’ll rub off on the players.
“He’s come in and lifted the place, which is exactly what the club needed. Being around the club more in recent weeks, there is a lot more optimism around the place.
“There is still a lot of work for them to do, but Neil has been a great appointment so far and hopefully he can build on that.”
