Sparky deserves goal for hard work - Tim Ream

American defender happy to see the returning Mark Davies on the scoresheet at Brentford

Tim Ream admitted his delight at seeing team-mate Mark Davies cap off his recent return to the field of play with the equalising goal in Saturday’s draw against Brentford.

Davies entered the fray as a first half substitute against the Bees, making only his second appearance for the Whites since returning to the squad after a lengthy lay-off with a knee injury.

And speaking to bwfc.co.uk following the final whistle, Ream was pleased to see the dynamic midfielder back in and amongst both the squad and the goals.

“Sparky is one of those players that makes everyone better around him,” he explained. “He’s on a similar level to Eidur and Emile, and often is thinking ahead of others around him.

“When he came on to the field we immediately started playing in a different way, knocking ball around a lot better and creating more chances.

“For him to rat around in midfield and get hold of the ball and start picking players out is always good to see.

“He’s also good at putting pressure on the opposition when not in possession of the ball.”

He continued: “He’ll probably make a bit of a joke about it, but he was in no man’s land pressuring the goalkeeper for when he scored, but it worked out in the end.

“He’s worked hard and it’s good to see him get his goal and his reward.”
