Prince-Desire Gouano pleased with defensive display

French defender speaks to the club following Wanderers' local derby clash at Ewood Park

Having had his first taste of a Bolton-Blackburn derby clash on Friday evening, summer signing Prince-Desire Gouano pleased with defensive display is relishing what the remainder of the season has to hold for Wanderers.

Joining the club on a season long loan from Italian outfit Atalanta earlier this month, the Frenchman completed the full match as the Whites earned a share of the spoils against Rovers at Ewood Park.

And speaking following the final whistle, the centre-half was pleased with both his own and the team’s general performance against their local rivals.

“It was a great game to play in,” he said. “It was strong and everybody knows that with games like this, you have to be ready physically.

“I think it was a good result for the team and we did well together on the pitch.

“The game was very fast and the pitch helped with that – it was very smooth so the ball travelled nicely.”

He continued: “I feel that I have settled in well so far, in to the English Championship, so it has not been a problem for me.

“I feel very good with the team – my teammates are very good, and the staff too, so I am very happy.

“We are strong, but not only as a defence but as a unit – the defence starts from the first striker, so we play as a team and we have to continue like this. We all have to contribute defensively.

“Emile did have a good chance to win it, but we have to now think about the next game.

“Anybody can miss a chance – I believe that we are playing well and a win will come soon for us.”

Having featured in all five of Wanderers’ league fixtures so far this term, Prince admitted his delight at the way he has settled into life in Bolton, with the defender paying tribute to the club’s fans for their welcome.

“I’m happy to play in England,” he explained. “It is a dream of many players to play here and it is known that it is very difficult to play here, so I will take my chance.

“I really like England – the people are very nice, and the Bolton fans are great.

“I can see that they seem to like me and I like them too, so hopefully we can continue to work together for the team.”
