Young Whites record first win of the season away at Colchester
Alex Samizadeh scored a hat-trick as Bolton Wanderers Under-18s won 4-2 away at Colchester United on Saturday.
The forward opened the scoring for the Whites, firing home Ryan White’s cutback to ensure Bolton went in ahead at the break.
He doubled the Trotters’ lead shortly after the interval, running 30 yards before beating the Colchester goalkeeper when one-on-one, before completing his hat-trick with a header at the far post.
And although the hosts scored twice in the second half, Alex Honeyball completed the scoring for Wanderers to wrap up the win as he headed home from a corner.
Pleased with the manner of the victory, head coach David Lee shared his delight with the result after the match.
“We played seven first years, one under-16 and three second years and Colchester were a strong, direct and physical team.
“The players matched their physical approach and we played some good attacking football. It was a well-earned win.
“The style of play from Colchester was a realistic test to what to expect, if the players are to play at first-team level.
“Overall, it was a pleasing performance and good learning curve for the players.”
