Loan watch: Niall Maher makes first senior start

Seven on-loan Bolton players feature during latest round-up

Niall Maher made his first ever senior start on Saturday as Blackpool fought out a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Coming up against fellow Wanderers loanees Alex Baptiste and Jay Spearing, the young defender, who was booked early, completed 68 minutes of the match before succumbing to injury as Joe Rothwell came on in his place.

Baptiste and Spearing both played the full 90 minutes for Rovers, with the former almost snatching all three points for Gary Bowyer’s team in stoppage time as he headed narrowly wide.

In League One, Kaiyne Woolery completed the full 90 minutes for Notts County, while Hayden White was introduced to the action as a substitute with little over 20 minutes remaining, as the Magpies lost 2-1 away at ten-man Fleetwood Town.

Elsewhere in the division, Keith Andrews played the final 12 minutes for MK Dons as they secured a 3-0 home victory over Peterborough United.

Meanwhile, Andy Kellett made his first appearance for Manchester United Under-21s on Monday night as they were held to a 1-1 away at Sunderland.

Joining the action as a late substitute, the defender was fielded as an emergency forward as the Red Devils pressed for a late winner to no avail.
