Manager offers update on fitness of Zach Clough, Lee Chung-Yong and Craig Davies
Neil Lennon is hopeful that Zach Clough will be fit enough to face Liverpool in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Anfield.
The young forward marked his Whites debut with the only goal in their FA Cup third round victory over Wigan Athletic earlier this month, but has been unavailable for subsequent matches against Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday because of a hamstring complaint.
“We’re hoping Zach Clough will be fit for the weekend,” the Bolton manager said in his pre-match press conference. “We brought him in against Wigan in the previous round and he had a fantastic debut.
“He was feeling his hamstring a bit when he came in on Monday but didn’t want to anything because he didn’t want to come across as big-time. That’s the type of lad he is.
“He will give us a little bit of extra creative spark that we’re just lacking at the minute.”
The manager then confirmed news of Lee Chung-Yong’s injury sustained whilst representing Korea Republic at the Asia Cup, whilst also revealing that Craig Davies will miss the weekend’s cup tie.
“Lee Chung-Yong had a scan this week,” Lennon added. “There is a very small hairline fracture but we are hoping he’ll be in a week to ten days. He won’t be ready for Liverpool.
“Craig Davies is also struggling after picking up a hamstring strain at Sheffield Wednesday. They are two very important players we are missing but apart from that we’re okay from last weekend.”
